Should you tell designers and/or developers about yourself?

Thank you for such an excellent video.

I want to ask about something the video didn't cover. About contacting designers or developers, should you tell them a little about yourself? Things like who you are, where you live, your skills, interests, your current job, your dream career? For all they know, you could be anyone.

I'd be extremely enthused to hear other opinions on this matter.

Only positive stuff related to the job. Job skills yes, personal failures like filling for bankrupty is bad. Your love for the job you're applying can help you (dream job).
