3,626 PointsSocial stuff on Treehouse?
Apologies if this has been asked...I find the forums here a bit user-unfriendly for searching. I'm wondering if there are plans to incorporate more social aspects to treehouse? The ability to "friend" or "follow" users, or a forum for more general discussions where users might chat more informally about outside projects we are working on, etc?

3,626 PointsThanks for the google search tip. I love treehouse, but the forums are a bit of a disappointment. I think learning happens best when there is a social or collaborative aspect to it..at least for many people. Thanks for your response!

Courses Plus Student 19,663 PointsNo problem, i agree that a social aspect with like minded people does improve learning and skills just from interacting with others. Maybe you could do the Ruby course and build a little social site for treehouse members. Good learning experience!

16,395 PointsAgreed. I sent in a feature request to add subscription options based on sub-forums, i.e. WordPress, etc. (Or perhaps those are just categories, and this forum doesn't have sub-forums?) Also, and IRC channel would be neat to hang out in and help each other out.

16,395 PointsSomething else that just came to mind is to mark posts as favorites. Often posts or comments will include nuggets of valuable information I would like to save for later as a resource.

Courses Plus Student 19,663 PointsYeah would be good. Atm i just subscribe to ones I need to look at again and ensure i unsubscribe from ones i am done with.

3,626 PointsA Treehouse Clubhouse! I love that idea! Beyond the scope of my ability at the moment, but yes, that would be awesome! And if anyone wants to do it, I would love to be involved!
Emily Kelton
3,626 PointsAgree about marking posts as favorites too. But even here in the commenting...I clicked "comment" under Adam's post above about a Ruby app...but my comment was appended to the bottom and it's unclear who I'm responding to. That's not user-friendly.

16,395 PointsLooks like this has been attempted already: https://teamtreehouse.com/forum/treehouse-chat I went ahead and logged in there ... maybe someone will show? :)
I think it would help a lot if teamtreehouse officially announced a chat area, and had tutors stop by from time to time. :) wink

16,395 PointsAlso, I am unable to edit comments, it just takes me to the answer form.

10,106 Pointsi think it would be worthy to have these forums on an official platform such as vBulletin or IP.Board it would be much easier to navigate, look around, moderate etc. IMO.

16,381 PointsThere used to be a Treehouse FB group for some suggestions of the above
https://www.facebook.com/groups/164031216987291/
But this became unused as the Forum was created.
Another one was started in its place:

3,626 PointsThanks, Alex. I sent join requests to both of those Facebook groups.

39,199 PointsThe original Treehouse Facebook is dead as a far as I know. The only posts that show up in there seem to be spam-y so I unsubscribed a few months back.

3,626 PointsThanks for the info! And I think it was you who approved me already in the one group? Thanks!

Just wanted to chime in and let you know that the Treehouse team has seen this post. Really great ideas here! We don't have anything to announce at this time, but we're always thinking about new features like this. We want Treehouse to be an awesome community for you. Your feedback is a big factor in making those types of product decisions.

Courses Plus Student 19,663 PointsGeneral chat is a good idea. As for searching the forums i tend to use Google and at the start of my search i will put treehouse forum and that finds the posts on here (i agree it should be easier on the site) here is a google search for treehouse forum responsive image and it finds relevant content.
Also my image first too which is weird.
