Hi. I've only been a Treehouse student for 4 days. Whenever I get stuck, other students have rushed to help within minutes, even seconds. And it's in my nature to help others. So I was wondering if Treehouse wouldn't mind if we had our own space, where we could unwind, introduce ourselves, say where we're from, what we do, what our hobbies are, how we found out about Treehouse, what we hope to gain from the courses, that sort of thing. Given the willingness of students to help, it seems a shame not to allow us a chance to get to know one another. I'd really appreciate others' opinions about this.

Courses Plus Student 4,129 PointsI second that!!
I think it's a great idea! Not only would it be a great place for introductions, and a way to start online friendships, but perhaps even a place where collaborations can be formed.
Best, Masum

Courses Plus Student 4,129 PointsI took the liberty and created a Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/treehousepirates/) that we can use for this very purpose! I hope you like the name! ;-)
I was thinking all social interactions via this facebook group, and all technical help requests and anything that has to do with treehouse directly remains in these (here) forums (obviously!).
I will contact treehouse staff to see what they think of the idea.
What do you think?

33,237 PointsHi Masum. I agree it's an excellent idea, for those of us who have Facebook accounts. It would be like a breath of fresh air and an escape from the petty behaviour of the minority on social networking sites generally. I don't see why they should be allowed to dominate social media at our expense. I have every confidence Treehouse members will flock to it. Unfortunately I deleted my Facebook account due to the public nature of Facebook; too much exposure for my tastes. The group name you suggested denotes a sense of humour and that's always a blessing. Thanks for your contribution to this thread and for creating this new Facebook page. :)

Courses Plus Student 4,129 PointsHi Sean, thanks for your kind words. I too have the same concerns about FB as yourself, and am therefore rather cautious about what I post where. But it would be a real shame not having you as a part of this group considering you got the ball rolling. There is always the possibility of using a dummy FB account...
It is a closed group, so only group members can see what has been posted. And before someone can become a group member, he/she needs to be approved by one of the group admins. That way we can make sure only treehosue students can join.
I hope you'll change your mind and join the Treehouse Pirates!!! ARRR...

33,237 PointsI've contacted Treehouse Customer Support and asked them to set up a private space for those of us who want to make friends on here without divulging sensitive information to the public domain.

33,237 PointsHi Masum. Treehouse Support have emailed me with a very positive response. They think the private space is a great idea and they're passing my suggestion onto the Teaching Team.
I hope all is well with the Facebook group.
