Software needed for front end development track?

I am currently using a late 2009 13" Macbook, and would like to start the front end development track. I recently tried to run Atom, but it severely lags and is much too resource intensive for my computer. Is it possible to get through the track with something more lightweight like Sublime or Brackets? I don't see a list of software needed for the track, and would like to figure this out before buying a subscription.

Thanks!

Hi there Tia,

Any text editor will do. Many people like Sublime. Brackets is free. Atom is very customizable, but it really is just what works best for you. Early on, I did the same track on my old Macbook (circa 2001). If you find that even those editors are giving you problems, you can also do the whole track using Treehouse's Workspaces.

No need to buy software, Sublime's trial version and Brackets are more than enough.

There might be lots of online text editors in the market.

But as I know, these are the top 3 (Available on both Windows and MAC)

  1. Sublime Text [Fast, Costly, Perfect]
  2. Brackets [Moderate, Free, Perfect]
  3. Atom [Bit slow, Free, High Customizable]

If you are looking for an online text editor go for CodeAnyWhere it is an online text editor.
