Some questions about programming and OS'

I'm thinking about switching back to windows, but I have no programming experience on a windows machine. I would like some people to warn me about any pitfalls before I actually do anything.

What's the big deal about Unix systems?

Is ruby on rails bad on windows?

Is there anything I can't do on windows that I can do on a mac?
