var input1 = prompt("Please type a starting number"); var bottomNumber = parseInt(input1); var input = prompt("Please type a number"); var topNumber = parseInt(input); var randomNumber = Math.floor(Math.random() * (topNumber – bottomNumber + 1)) + bottomNumber; var message = "<p>" + randomNumber + " is a number between " + bottomNumber + " and " + topNumber + ".</P>"; document.write(message);

You have an "en dash" "–" rather than a hyphen "-" as the subtraction symbol in your randomNumber variable.

var randomNumber = Math.floor(Math.random() * (topNumber - bottomNumber + 1)) + bottomNumber;

I still cant see exactly where you are referring to?

See how the subtraction symbol where you subtract bottomNumber from topNumber is different? Just a typo. Are you using a text editor with syntax highlighting?

Your original code:

var input1 = prompt("Please type a starting number");
var bottomNumber = parseInt(input1);
var input = prompt("Please type a number");
var topNumber = parseInt(input);
var randomNumber = Math.floor(Math.random() * (topNumber  bottomNumber + 1)) + bottomNumber;  //this line
var message = "<p>" + randomNumber + " is a number between " + bottomNumber + " and " + topNumber + ".</p>";
document.write(message);

Changed to hyphen:

var input1 = prompt("Please type a starting number");
var bottomNumber = parseInt(input1);
var input = prompt("Please type a number");
var topNumber = parseInt(input);
var randomNumber = Math.floor(Math.random() * (topNumber - bottomNumber + 1)) + bottomNumber; //this line
var message = "<p>" + randomNumber + " is a number between " + bottomNumber + " and " + topNumber + ".</p>";
document.write(message);

Thanks
