SQL statement wrong select * from results where away_team= "hessle" and played_on>= 2015-10-01?

can you please tell me whats wrong.

If played_on is a Date datatype, SQL can attempt to convert a string to a date. So you'll want it to be played_on >= '2015-10-01'
