srt files?

im taking the learn html and css track and when i tried to download introduction to CSS .srt my mac said that i didn't have an application to open it. are there any recommendations on what my next step should be? Do i need to buy or download some software from the app store that can open these? or is there something already on my computer that will do the job?

I believe that the .srt files are the subtitle files for the video lessons. I could be wrong, but .srt is usually known to be subtitle files. Whatever video player that you are using will open those files and use them for subtitle captioning if you elect to turn on the subtitle feature.

I know you can use them when watching a video on VLC

Heh, yep! Best video player ever!

Hi Amber,

.srt files are simply text files. Use any text editor to view and edit SRT files. The video transcript is also always embedded within the lesson page. Of course, you can also download the MP4 to your local machine.
