32,885 PointsStarting up eclipse is leading to 'Java was started but returned exit code = 1' almost all the time. HELP!
So, I had to recently re-install Windows for some reason and hence had to re-download and install Eclipse + ADT. So, I got the ADT bundle from developer.android.com like always and the JDK from Oracle's website. I installed the JDK and unpacked the ADT bundle .zip and ran the eclipse.exe . Eclipse did prompt me to chose a workspace and I did but as soon as it starting loading the splash screen I got this error:
I then like any person stuck with an error went onto Stackoverflow and looked up a lot of threads but none of the solutions worked. Now, I'm stuck and cannot use eclipse. It does work sometimes but then it fails to load my workspace and if it does load my workspace, it usually crashes as soon as I open any layout (.xml) file.
Any help on the matter is appreciated.
PS. I have JDK 8, JRE8 installed

Treehouse TeacherJDK 8 isn't officially supported yet for Android (though it should work). You can try to troubleshoot this further, but the quickest and easiest solution would be to grab our Treehouse bundle which includes a copy of JDK 6 to make the installation super easy. The ADT itself is the same as the one from the Android Developer site. You can get the bundles here:
