Still can't figure out how to get desktop server to work

I keep getting a 404 error when I click on link. I have windows 10 along with bitedefender. The link " https://serverpress.com/forums/topic/every-time-i-install-i-get-the-same-error/" didn't help me. I also tried to uncheck the read only on the etc folder but received a access denied message.

Sounds like you need to set your permalinks if your able to access WordPress but links are 404ing. Go to settings > permalinks. Then select the radio option Post name . If your .htaccess is not writable you will need to copy the suggested .htaccess yourself in the wp root directory.
