String Methods - please provide sample lines for variable.format("x", "y") in a script; I can't seem to make mine work

subject_template = "Thank you for learning Java with us, Craig!"
print(subject_template)
subject_template = "Thank you for learning {} with us, {}!"
subject_template.format("Phython", "xxx")
print(subject_template)

You are very close! The format() method returns the newly formatted string and does not modify the variable. (Which isn’t allowed anyway since strings are immutable – can not be changed). Instead, print the results of the format directly or assign the results to a new variable and print the variable:

# print directly 
print(subject_template.format("Phython", "xxx"))

# assign to variable 
result = subject_template.format("Phython", "xxx")
print(result)

# or this
subject_template = subject_template.format("Phython", "xxx")
print(subject_template)
