I've got as far as the second stage of this; here's the question and my code. I'm not sure what is wrong with this ... obviously something!
Next we need to set that variable from the layout. The SwipeRefreshLayout element in the layout has the ID R.id.refreshLayout.

public SwipeRefreshLayout mRefreshLayout;
