Python Basic Object-Oriented Python Welcome to OOP Adding to our Panda

Stuck on returning Panda name and Panda food on method challenge. I feel like I've tried every which way here...

Re-watched all of the corresponding videos as well. Any help would be much appreciated.

panda.py
class Panda:
    species = 'Ailuropoda melanoleuca'
    food = 'bamboo'

    def __init__(self, name, age):
        self.is_hungry = True
        self.name = name
        self.age = age

    def eat(self):
        self.is_hungry = False
        self.name = 'Bao Bao'
        return f'{self.name} eats {Panda.food}.'

Hey Travers Geoffray, you are on the right path, but have two errors

  • Do not redefine self.name within the eat method. The attribute value is set within the __init__ method.
  • The second string format field should be self.food instead of Panda.food

Post back if you need more help. Good luck!!

Chris - thank you again! The self.food really helped.
