stuck on this exercise please help

hi, can somebody please show me where i gone wrong and what the solution looks like in this exercise

public class ConferenceRegistrationAssistant {

  public int getLineFor(String lastName) {
    /* If the last name is between A thru M send them to line 1
       Otherwise send them to line 2 */

    int line1 = 0;
    int line2=0;
     return line1+=getLineFor(lastName);
     return line2+=getLineFor(lastName);

So you're gonna want to leave the line declaration as how it is at the beginning. Your last name check is spot on (Except you might want to use <= instead of just <). What you're returning however is what the line is going to be, whether that's 1 or 2. So check what you're returning, make sure it's only 1 or 2, and see if it clicks

thank you Shadd, this worked
