General Discussion

[Suggestion] - Are there any plans to add more projects to the HTML/CSS/JS course? Projects are the best way to learn.

Just wondering if there were other projects planned to build sites employing the skills in from the front end course, i.e HTML, CSS, JS and even back end technologies like Ruby/PHP.

As far as I can tell, the cake website is the only project (completed) website that is demonstrated. It would be awesome if we could have projects where you build a site with different designs, or even requires a login system, or an eCommerce website.

Even though I'm following along, I'm still finding it difficult to translate these new learning into real products.

The iOS course has some great examples of app projects where we can follow along, implement different concepts and then come out the other end with a real working product.

Let me know if there are projects like this on Treehouse, so i can follow along.

Does anyone else wish these sorts of things were available?

Hi,

When i was doing website developement at the end i thought i they can make a project . What i found out is that you should make your own project, in my opinion. They teach you a certain skill so you should practice it . So you could make a amazon website prototype to give your new skill set to practice.

So what i would do , if your talking about cake shop online , you could make it the same but different . If you have a problem you could figure it out by looking on internet etc.. e.g im not sure if everyone had the same feeling when learning HTML and CSS but when you wanted to do something on a webpage e.g the left bar going all the way down with the content bar with the white background or whatever , it took time on interent to figure it out and it was like challenging .

Or you could go on youtube witch is hard to find a good one about this things making project .

When i first started to make a website about like cars where people can post things (prototype) i did like e.g. A box where it has padding of 20px and on the right user image alligned with the user description on the left (other way round) and then the text in . Plus this box had been needed to be aligned like facebook feeds so other box will be above or bellow it allways 40px and margin od 20px so side etc.. i found that messi because i never actualy practiced this type of thing even i could lay out any website i want . When started to adding server language ( with i was learning , switched to iOS) when i saw facebook structure , i saw my gap .

Hope this is sort of in topic : p
