svg fallback not working in IE

I'm using this technique for a project, and it doesn't seem to work in IE 8 and below. I have the same exact code as the video but I can't get it to work. HELP!

IE 8 just gives me an error page with this link: http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd

Have you tried Alexey Ten’s method?

It would look something like:

<svg width="150" height="150">
<image xlink:href="mysvg.svg" src="mysvg.png" width="150" height="150" />
</svg>

I tried everything, even that one. Does it make a difference if I'm checking with IE10 but changing it to preview IE8 via inspect element?
