Databases Mongo Basics Getting Started With MongoDB Setting Up MongoDB

syntax error trying to create new database

I got up to the db.post.insert({title: "hooray!"}) part, but when i press enter I get a message saying: [thread1] SyntaxError: illegal character @(shell):1:16

Not sure if it helps, but when I first started up mongo, I got these dodgy looking messages (among others) that I don't understand:

Detected unclean shutdown - C:\data\db\mongod.lock is not empty. Recovering data from the last clean checkpoint. Unclean full-time diagnostic data capture shutdown detected, found interim file, some metrics may have been lost. OK

Are you in MongoBasics? Before typing in db.post.insert({title: "hooray!"}) , >use mongoBasics. Try that
