Tax Reduction for TechDegree

I was just wondering, because I know college students get a tax reduction of up to $2,500 depending on a few variables. And I wanted to know if that applies to those of us paying for the TechDegree during that year. Thanks in advance for your input!

Hey Jeriah,

You should probably message support on this one. They'd be better able to answer that question.

Hi Jeriah,

That it is going to solely depend on your local Taxation Laws. I'm in Canada and there is no way I would be allowed to write off the fees for the TechDegree offered here on Treehouse. We cannot write off any fees for Online Schools unless they are an Accredited Education Institution as listed by the Government and approved tuition. Even then, many courses offered by the Accredited ones still are not eligible for Tax deductions.
But every country is going to have different laws, so you'll just have to check with your government agency.

HI Jeriah Bowers -- great question, but I don't think we'd have the answer for you. As Jason Anders points out, tax laws really vary, and really only an accountant would be able to give you precise advice on this questions.

I asked for "Support" to give me EIN number of school for tax reduction and I got this answer:

At this time, Treehouse is not an accredited school so we don't believe we qualify as a tax write off. We don't have any forms or an EIN number that we have to send out for this.
