I personally enjoy watching videos without the controls present on screen; It helps me to focus on the video being played and not on the amount of time left in it, plus it's one less thing for my eyes to wander to, helping my mind to stay concentrated on what I'm learning.
So, is there any chance that the option to automatically hide controls will be implemented in the future?
Let me know what you guys think!

Try contacting support (link in the right sidebar) and asking them if this is temporary or if it is always going to be that way. You also have the option to download the videos and open them in a video player like VLC.
