Terminal Infinitely Loading

Today, I started a course in the Ruby on Rails Track that is going to teach me to use a command line. The only problem is that the terminal is not loading properly. Basically the bar keeps moving and it keeps repeating phrases. I am not sure what the problem. Does anyone know how to fix this? I am using Mozilla Firefox 30.0 on Windows 8.1.
