The blue background is attached to my pencil logo; how do I separate the two to select the entire pencil to copy?

Hey, DJay Jelks, can you post a link to the video or project this post was referencing so I can try to figure out how I can best help? Thanks!

I'm using Adobe Illustrator following along on projects so, how do I post a link or my project here for you to review?

To share the project file you would have to upload it to a service like google drive or dropbox and make a sharable link, that's public to viewers.

Can you post the link to which video you were following along with?

So, I'm using Adobe Illustrator, I downloaded the .ai files from teamtreehouse. When I open the pencil file in Illustrator, I can not select the pencil to copy and paste to the wireframe screen. When selecting the pencil the entire background and pencil move. It seems like I need to separate the two, or not 'seem', I need to make the pencil ungroup from the background.

Hey DJay Jelks Your file wasn't set to anyone with link can view, which means I can't take a look yet. If you make that tweak I'll happily take a look.

Hey DJay Jelks the file in the link you shared was a .png so I couldn't turn off the background layer. However, I did remove the background layer by cutting it out. Here's a link to just the pencil:

Hope that helps!
