General Discussion

The current state of Parse.com

Hi!

So, I am not sure how many of you guys know about this but it has been announced that Parse.com is shutting down. This came as complete surprise to quite a lot of people in the programming community and it is going to affect a fair amount of people. Some of those people are members right here on Treehouse.

The current iOS and Android courses both use Parse.com for the backend so these courses will definitely be affected by this change. I wonder how these courses will be re-written to cope with this change.

Anyway, that is all I had to say really. I just thought I would let you guys know about this as it's some pretty big news.

A reasonable replacement would be Firebase, which is basically Google's version of Parse. The best option, though, would be to learn a backed language/framework on Treehouse and build your own servers
