Your main-content div contains floated elements which is causing it to collapse on itself. Take a look at the section titled "The Great Collapse" in this article and see if that helps you out.

...ops, i'm sorry, but now i've another problem....the portfolio images are incorrect, because there are max 2 x line. Why?
