When converting the character to lower case, can we use letter.toLowerCase() instead of Character.toLowerCase(letter)?

they are two different methods, one string and one char. the string method is called on a string you want lowered, and takes no argument - myString.toLowerCase(). the char method is static and is thus called on the Character class with the char to be lowered as the argument, Character.toLowerCase(myChar).
