Theme change

My website Ktaelite.com has a basic wordpress theme that works well.on my phone and table and desktop but I.don't u understand when I go.to.change the color it chages the.background color but.not the.background where my text and post are that stays white and if I upload an.image to.the.background I can only see it around the sides of my page like there's no transparency any assistance or videos on this I can't seem to.find much

First of all, your site is looking good so far :D I don't understand what you are trying to say about the pictures but you have these problems with the background because, its CSS has different declaration block for the background and the place your post displays or your header image. I am not sure if you can edit the CSS file of that theme, but in case you can, If you want to change the background of these parts you have to access their CSS blocks (which from what I see have the selectors ".widget-wrapper" and "#featured" at least the ones in the homepage can be changed from those blocks) and change the "background - color" to the one you want.
