General Discussion

This community is simply amazing.

I just wanted to take a second in between my lesson to say that this community is absolutely wonderful and i'm glad to be a part of it. Ever since i started everyone has been so eager to help me find solutions to my problems, and offer advice and/or solutions on how to become a better coder. I have only just started my journey into web development, but being an 18 year old college student i have pretty much come to realize that this is exactly were i need to be, and web development is something that i want to pursue as a career, so were better to start than tree house! I've always had a fascination with computers and technical solutions/ creativity, but i did not know that "coding" even existed until my dad introduced me into it. Its crazy how much of an impact coding and this community/staff has already had on my life. If you knew me i tend to be on the "lazy" side when it comes to completing vigorous and time consuming task. But for some odd, strange reason coding creates a strong motivational feeling within me i have never experienced before. I find myself awake still coding at 4-6am literally every night (current time) and becoming fully absorbed into the material, without the feeling of boredom or thought of stopping. While i'm taking notes from the lessons. and creating flash cards in order to retain the information being shoveled into my face. I'm now putting all of my time and energy into learning the ins and outs of web-development, as i'm no longer going to attend college,(with the exception of some web-development classes) because i strongly believe in the quote "Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune." -Jim Rohn. I might sound crazy but i believe i have finally found my calling, and i'm excited to continue my journey here at tree house! No words can explain how enthusiastic i am about coding, but i'm sure many of you guys feel, or have felt the same way. And once i become fluent in a language i'm sure i will feel even more accomplished; once code becomes second nature; and i don't have to think about what i'm coding, but instead i can JUST DO IT. But until then i will continue striving to be the best i can be, as should everyone else on here! I would love to sit here and type all day, but i have to get back to coding! Sincerely, Reggie Sibley.

Hi Reggie. What an awesome endorsement! I'm so excited for you. Congrats and good luck on your journey!

thanks alot :)

Reggie,

I am very glad that this community and Team Treehouse has given you the knowledge, dedication, and drive to allow you to pursue what you want. As a fellow procrastinator, I can understand how hard it is to do anything including studying and having an advance case of ADHD, I know that feeling when something finally catches my attention and actually keeps it. I am so very glad you have found your place in this community and hope that you excel in all areas here that you choose to learn. It may be sometimes scary and intimidating when you try to learn something new and you can get frustrated when you hit a block and you can't continue most of the time ending up with you loosing interest. By having a community with experience and knowledge that gets you out of said block is invaluable. I wish you the best of luck and remember that we are here to guide you out of the blocks that you will eventually have doing these courses. All of us at one point in time needed help from others and that's what communities like this are for. Have fun and stay learning!!!

Cheers!
