$this sudo, what's up with the dot?

when we return the value of properties with the $this sudo variable why do we need the dot.

Example:

'''return "Product: " . $this -> name; ''' The instructor didn't say anything about it..

. is the concatenation operator in PHP. It 'joins' two strings into one. In this case, it joins the string "Product: " with the string in the variable name. You can read more about it on the PHP Manual
