This switch statement isn't working

I'm not sure if I'm doing this right?

switch.php 
<?php
//Available roles: admin, editor, author, subscriber
if (!isset($role)) {
    $role = 'subscriber';
}

//change to switch statement
switch ($role != 'admin') {
    case 'admin':
      echo "As an admin, you can add, edit, or delete any post.";
      break;
    default:
      echo "You do not have access to this page. Please contact your administrator.";
      break;
}

Hi Logan,

You're almost correct!

Stating if ($role != 'admin') (if $role is not equal to 'admin') makes perfect sense, but once you transform it into a switch statement, it doesn't, as the 'comparison' would be made by using cases.

case 'admin': basically replaces the "check if $role is not equal to 'admin'" from the if-statement, by checking if the role is 'admin'.

So, the only thing you have to do to make your code work, is removing != 'admin', like so:

switch ($role) {
    case 'admin':
      echo "As an admin, you can add, edit, or delete any post.";
      break;
    default:
      echo "You do not have access to this page. Please contact your administrator.";
      break;
}
