This task is quite confusing. And is far off from the merge task within this course. I have no idea where to start.

Please help me find out where I missed how to do this within this course. It is far different than how merging content was done in the actual course.

If you're totally lost, you may want to review the video on Binding Values. While there are slight differences in the argument and placeholder formats, the basic operation of the mergeValues function created in that video is very similar to what needs to be done for this challenge.
