Tinder

I just read an article in Tech Crunch about the history of Tinder. Pardon my ignorance, but as a novice in Tech, how does a app company make/earn money when there is no currency being exchanged (excluding paying customers) Are founders and employees getting paychecks from invested money? thanks

Hey True, I think that app companies make most of there money from advertisements and things of that nature. I think the bigger the user base the more people you can advertise to meaning more money for the company. But that's just what I know about how app companies make money hope I helped in some way :).

As Tim said, many use advertising, such as a small clickable banner on the bottom of the app, or popups, etc. Also some of the social apps like that also have two versions - one that is free with advertising, and another "ad free" version; where you pay 99 cents or whatever it is to buy the app, and are not bothered with advertising while using it.
