Tips on how to go about contributing to a Github Project

Hi everyone, I've been learning mainly front- end development for about 6 months now and would be keen to get involved in some projects on Github to help my general understanding and also to get the chance to work with other developers. Does anyone have an tips on how best to find a project that I could contribute to? thanks!
