To better organize my pictures in the media area, what options do I have?

Can I create an album in the media to better organize all the pictures I have there?

No you can't. You can look into adding categories to your images and sorting them that way though.

Why are you trying to do this?

Because still, after 4 full version of WP, the standard Media Library is woeful as soon as you get 100 or so images in there. There's no way to sort or arrange other than chronoligically and searching the name of the image. Not always easy to remember.

The media library needs to be like My Docs in Windows. Directories with further directories so it looks the same way I and many other people organise files on their computer.

To OP: sadly there is nothing out there to help organise your media library.

You can look at plugins like Enhanced Media Library. This sets up media categories that you can filter by in the media library.
