2,304 PointsToo Old?
Hi Everyone,
I recently joined teamtreehouse and am absolutely loving the courses on web design and wordpress.
My husband is Italian and we will eventually be moving to Italy permanently which gives me the amazing opportunity to start a new career!
At the moment I am studying Teaching English as a Second Language which seemed the obvious choice at the time but to be honest, I am really not enjoying it that much and think web design/wordpress development is something that is far more suited to me.
The question I have is,I am too old to get started in this field? I am already 36 and am not sure if age is an important factor when it comes to job opportunities etc
Any thoughts and advice on this would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Jo

You are obviously willing to learn and create and move forward with new and exciting things in your life. Embrace it and give it everything you can and you will succeed.
My grandmother was 60 when she got her first Degree at University.
Just keep going!

17,535 PointsI'm 43 and seriously considering this as a 2nd career. Healthcare is a scary business to be in these days... Unless your talking healthcare informatics which seems to be booming...

I like to think we could all learn from people like her that just do what they set out to do.

Courses Plus Student 1,977 PointsI am 52 and just started the RoR track for 2 reasons, a means to be or learn to expose creativity and ensure a lifetime job with automatically means a lifetime training thus never a dull moment and keeping the brains rolling. Ultimate goal is to deploy an app with a specific goal in mind and find peers amd friends to work with. Fun and being creative are the keywords for me.

2,304 PointsJaap Steenis good luck with RoR, I've heard it's really difficult. I would love to have the type of brain that could wrap itself around programming but I don't think I do. I prefer the instant gratification you get with html and css ;) I'm sure I'll give it a go at some stage though :)
You are right in what you say in that a life of learning means you will never be bored!
The app sounds interesting, would love to see the end result :)

Courses Plus Student 1,977 PointsTherefore I am here at Treehouse Jo :-)so yes difficulty does not automatically means its impossible. The track I am doing is btw 60 % css and html which is core to all webthings you want to be doing. See it more as a Journey and take that notebook with you whereever you go. There is a great support community to help you 24 by 7

50,595 PointsNope, you're definitely not - there are many more students around your age here at Treehouse :)
Of course I'm here to learn new things too, but mostly just to stay current in the field of all things Web Development like other students here already working in this business. I'm of the mind that you've got to be student forever in this field of expertise.
