PHP File Handling with PHP Basic File Handling Reading Files

Totally stuck here. Please help.

This is from "File Handling with PHP":

Challenge Task 3 of 3

For each of the files whose name contained "fun", convert the contents of the file to lowercase and display the lowercase version after each H3 title.

What's wrong with my code?

index.php
<?php
//add code here
$files = scandir('example');

foreach ($files as $file)
{
  if (strpos($file,'fun') !== false)
  {
    echo '<h3>'.$file.'</h3>';
    $contents = file_get_contents($file);
    echo '<p>'.$contents.'</p>';

  }
}

Hey Julie,

You're missing one little detail...try clicking 'preview' at the failed step. There should be error messages saying the script couldn't open the file.

Hopefully that helps.

This one stumped me for a LONG time. Make sure you include the directory in the path for the file - and BE EXTRA ATTENTIVE to how PHP separates directories from files (hint: NOT an escape character!).

Regards.

Unfortunately I cannot check the challenge because I don't have an active subscription but it might come down to you forgetting a tiny step (converting the string to lower case).

$contents = file_get_contents($file);
$contents = strtolower(file_get_contents($file));

I added strtolower, and it still didn't work. It says "Bummer! I do not see all the contents.

`` <?php //add code here $files = scandir('example');

foreach ($files as $file) { if (strpos($file,'fun') !== false) { echo '<h3>'.$file.'</h3>'; $contents = strtolower(file_get_contents($file)); echo '<p>'.$contents.'</p>';

} } ``

I changed the file path and it worked! Thanks so much. Here's what I entered:

$contents = file_get_contents('example/'.$file);
