Track Update

I'm not sure what to choose. I'm on Web Design Track, and 1 pop-up window confused me. It says that Track is changed and 1 course is removed (Compass Basics). I'm not sure what's the point here? I guess that course will be available from Library, but I would like to know more about this.

When Treehouse releases new courses they add them to the relevant track. When adding new courses to a track, they sometimes remove courses, so that a Track doesn't get too unwieldy.

The reason the "track update" prompt exists, is because sometimes the new courses are courses that fit in at the beginning of the track. Since a track shows you the next badge in your track you have not completed, in that case it would bring you to the start of that track.

The simple solution is to give students the option of which version of the track to choose whenever there is a track update.

Let us know here in this thread, if that doesn't answer all of your questions.

I haven't completed my track. I'm on 'CSS Foundations' course and 'Compass Basics' course is at the bottom of a track.

So that means if I accept this change, my track progress will be reseted to 0 and I'll have to do all completed courses again.

Or I got it wrong?

What I mean when I say

in that case it would bring you to the start of that track.

Is that the next badge in your track will be at start of the track.

Nothing changes about your progress.

A track is just an ordered listing of badges. The whole purpose of a track is just a suggestion for the next badge you should do.

Okay, thank you very much for the explanation.

So now is Compass Basics not worth learning or will it be added in another track because for the time being I don't find them in either the web design track or the front end web development track.

Treehouse has more content than fits into it's pre-defined tracks.
