3,796 PointsTransitioning from another industry
I'm transitioning from another (well.. a couple other) industry into this whole UX world.
What do you suggest?
Here's the backstory...
I come from the vfx and animation world writing tools (python/mel/bash) in and doing tech support for artists on film and tv projects.
I left the industry to start a business online so i could travel full time, but I'm missing the creative industry.
In the past couple months I've been doing research and came upon UX. I've been studying and reading on UX design like there's no tomorrow (which is how i found treehouse). And I think my experience and this UX world enhance each other.
I'm really trying to find what area I like the best in the UX world as it seems there's just a wide spectrum of areas.
I'm brushing up on my programming skills (old and new) and learning more about design as well.
I was thinking I could leverage my skills in vfx/anim while applying for jobs as long as i put together a few portfolio pieces. I'm having a hard time trying to figure out which jobs to apply for.
Do you think that's sufficient?
I don't necessarily want to get stuck just in dev. The whole UX design process intrigues me.
