25,493 PointsTreehouse reward videos?
Hi everyone,
I just saw this https://teamtreehouse.com/community/reward-videos and I am wondering why these are no longer available! They are still funny and it would be cool if they weren’t so hidden!

25,493 PointsBut why are they hidden?

8,772 Points64yes they are all available on YouTube, but good question: Why hide them?
We hid them because they reflect a direction that we are no longer taking the app.
I'd love to have gone the full Disney direction with adventure-oriented theming in every aspect of the app, but it unfortunately has the negative side effect of undermining the legitimacy of our intermediate/advanced instructional material and it's really hard to do and it confuses students and I mainly worry about the video part of our app.
Puppets/magical tables/costumes/adventure reward videos – we've phased those things out – because we don't want to accidentally condescend to our audience. Though, while we've phased some of those 'fun' things out, we've created new fun things, like insanely awesome animations, weird sketch-like asides, and other awesome things that the Treehouse Team does every day that I don't even know about.
We want people to consider Treehouse as a resource where they continue learning – not just a place where they start. All of the beginner-friendly props are great in some ways because it makes it clear what audience you're targeting: beginners.
But what kind of product do you build when you want students to consider you as a lifelong learning resource?
We definitely want Treehouse to be fun and fun to use – but we are always trying to find different ways of making things fun for students of every experience level.
Reward videos are an awesome part of our history. Maybe we'll revisit them someday. When we see stuff like this – like your comment – it makes us think that we should. ;)

Courses Plus Student 15,597 PointsMichael, trust me, as a treehouse student I can honestly say your app is in a GREAT direction, I enjoy every second from the videos I watch, I find myself 90% of the time smiling through out the lesson (I laugh at the weirdest things) and get a great feeling when finishing even a small section of the course - I have tried other learning resources and can honestly say I am sticking to Treehouse 100%.
By the way, I couldn't read your comment without hearing your voice from HTM-HELL... xD

20,367 PointsOh man, this bums me out! Treehouse has undergone quite a few changes since I started in 2013. I actually loved the reward videos. I kept learning late into the night, some times because I wanted to see what would happen next in the videos. They were good for motivation to continue.
I also feel like I remember a part of the site existing where you could potentially get a job offer from partner companies based on the badges and achievements you earned on Treehouse. Am I correct in that? I'm pretty sure it's a thing of the past as well.
Either way, sad to see the videos are not a part of the curriculum anymore!
