5,018 PointsTreehousers are you happy with a Yosemite ?
Hi guys,
I wanted to ask especially a treehouse staff how they are happy with Yosemite.
It performs really bad on my late mbp 2013 15" and i am seriously considering a switching to a windows desktop.
Apple killed a mac for me with this update. It feels like it performs at least 5% worse than mavericks.

Treehouse TeacherI recently wiped my SSD and did a clean install of Mavericks, right before Yosemite, and it cleared up a ton of performance issues and graphics glitches. It was sort of a last resort for me, and I didn't think it would work the way it typically does on a Windows PC, but it worked great.
If you're having performance problems, I would consider backing up your data and doing a clean install. If you want to clean install Yosemite, this guide looks pretty good.

5,018 PointsHah! So you also were not that happy :-). It is a tough choice because os x has always been a working, nice and stable unix. We had the power of UNIX and we did not have to sacrifice productivity. But i am being really frustrated at how things turned out for iOS 8 and now for Yosemite.
I think i will do the clean install as well :-) thanks Nick

5,258 PointsWhen you wipe the mac does delete everything on it that you had download? If it does is there away to get everything back, music, videos, softwares, etc?
Geoff Parsons
11,679 PointsKhaleel Hamid If you follow the instructions Nick Pettit posted everything on your computer will be deleted. If you purchased your music through iTunes or something similar you can re-download it through that service. If not you will need to make a backup to an external drive, DVD-R, or USB drive of anything you want to keep before you wipe and install.
