Troubles with Enhancing a Simple PHP Application Challenge task 1 about Adding Search: Controller & View

A visitor to our site has just performed a search for chocolate, which has returned no results. Change this code to display the search term in the search box again, making sure to protect the page against malicious code that might have been entered. and I wrote this but it doesn't work and i dont know why.

 <input type="text" name="s" value = "<?php echo $search_term; ?>">

this is link to a Challenge task (task 1)
