Trying to implement the navbar with bootstrap..

So I've been trying for a few days to implement the navbar. Originally I thought the problem was that the Bootstrap used in the videos were an older version, so I downloaded the project files, and ripped bootstrap files from there and replaced the old ones. Unfortunately no luck! Some formatting applies such as the container class for centering the layout, and some basic layout for the nav but I don't get any color added and the nav is acting as if it's taken out of the normal document flow.
