Trying to return input date in a specific format

I am trying to create a function that returns the date entered in a specific format e.g 23 November 2022...what am I missing?

timestrings.py
## Examples
# to_string(datetime_object) => "24 September 2012"
# from_string("09/24/12 18:30", "%m/%d/%y %H:%M") => datetime
import datetime
def to_string(datetime):
    return datetime.strptime ('datetime', '%d/ %B/ %Y')
