Typecasting/ Downcasting help

Hi there,

I've been looking around and seeing some notes on Typecasting and Downcasting involving different classes. I'm completely new to programming and iOS dev and cannot get my head around these ideas.

How and where would this be used? Could anybody display some simple examples?

Josh, if you haven't read through the Apple documentation on typecasting and downcasting you might give it a try:

They have some good examples.

jcorum thanks, I did have a good look over this, I think I'm just struggling to see how it would be implemented in a real world example - due to only just learning the concept.
