TypeError: squared() missing 1 required positional argument: 'Num1' I'm Stuck.

I don't think I fully understand python functions, can someone help?

squared.py
def squared(Num1):
# EXAMPLES
# squared(5) would return 25
    try:   
        return Num1 * Num1
    except ValueError:
        return Num1 * ln(Num1)
squared()

# squared("2") would return 4
# squared("tim") would return "timtimtim"

# EXAMPLES
# squared(5) would return 25
    try:   
        return Num1 * Num1  # convert into an integer "int(Num1)"
    except ValueError:
        return Num1 * ln(Num1)  # It should be "len(Num1)" not "ln(Num1)"
squared()  # you do not need it
