UICollectionView Problems (Photo Bomber App)

Hello, I am making a Photo sharing app and when I want to do a UICollectionView like the Photo bombers app, the code I write to make the squares "larger" does not work, here is the code.

By the way, I did not add anything to the app delegate, if I make the Collection view page the root view, the other pages do not show, any suggestions? 

-(instancetype) init {
    UICollectionViewFlowLayout *layout = [[UICollectionViewFlowLayout alloc] init];
    layout.itemSize = CGSizeMake(106.0, 106.0);
    layout.minimumInteritemSpacing = 1.0;
    layout.minimumLineSpacing = 1.0;

    return (self = [super initWithCollectionViewLayout:layout]);
}

    [super viewDidLoad];

    [self.collectionView registerClass:[UICollectionViewCell class] forCellWithReuseIdentifier:@"photo"];
    self.collectionView.backgroundColor = [UIColor whiteColor];

-(NSInteger)collectionView:(UICollectionView *)collectionView numberOfItemsInSection:(NSInteger)section {
    return 10;
}

-(UICollectionViewCell *)collectionView:(UICollectionView *)collectionView cellForItemAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath {
    UICollectionViewCell *cell = [collectionView dequeueReusableCellWithReuseIdentifier:@"photo" forIndexPath:indexPath];
