UITableView error

Im experimenting with UITableView- I get the error 'UITableViewCell' is not a subtype of NSString

and

'UILabel?' does not have a member named 'text'

Also how do I use the cell as a button to switch ViewControllers

        self.TableView1.dataSource = self

        }

    func tableView(tableView: UITableView, numberOfRowsInSection section: Int) -> Int {
        return items.count
    }

    func tableView(tableView: UITableView, cellForRowAtIndexPath indexPath: NSIndexPath) -> UITableViewCell {
        var cell:UITableViewCell = self.TableView1.dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier("cell" as UITableViewCell)

        cell.textLabel.text = self.items[indexPath.row]

        return cell;
    }
