No idea what is wrong with my run_lap function. Could use some help, please.

racecar.py
class RaceCar:
    #laps = 0

    def __init__(self, color, fuel_remaining, laps, **kwargs):
        self.color = color
        self.fuel_remaining = fuel_remaining
        self.laps = laps
        for key, value in kwargs.items():
            setattr(self, key, value)

    def run_lap(self, length):
        self.length = length
        fuel_remaining -= (length * 0.125)
        laps+=1

Hi Alex

I spotted a few things in your code:

  • I think there's no need to put laps here -> def __init__(self, color, fuel_remaining, laps, **kwargs):
  • self.laps should be set 0 (zero)
  • I think this is unnecessary though I guess it can be there self.length = length since we use 'length' only in the 'run_lap'-method
  • missing 'self' here for 'fuel_remaining' since we need to access it from the init -method -> fuel_remaining -= (length * 0.125)
  • also missing 'self' here for 'laps+=1'

This should pass:

class RaceCar:
    #laps = 0

    def __init__(self, color, fuel_remaining, **kwargs):
        self.color = color
        self.fuel_remaining = fuel_remaining
        self.laps = 0
        for key, value in kwargs.items():
            setattr(self, key, value)

    def run_lap(self, length):
        self.fuel_remaining -= (length * 0.125)
        self.laps+=1

Hope this helps!
