Unable to download and open workspaces onto my computer

Hi all, I am at the stage in the "How to make a website" track where I download my workspace files to my computer to upload to server...my problem is that when I download as instructed, the file on my computer cannot be opened. My computer doesn't recognise the file type and doesn't know what program to use to open the file. (The video also said that the file would download as a zip file but this is no the case on my computer either). Not sure what I'm doing wrong, any suggestions?

I've arrived at the same point. I've downloaded it twice and it is just a type of "file". I'm on Windows 7 64-bit machine. Not sure what else to do either so I'm interested in getting an answer for this. Is this a bug... or user error?

What kind of filetype is it? Maby your file reader doesn't support the file type?

Hi Axel All it says about the file is ...type: file . Tgere is no other extension at all...That is what the file is listed as in my documents after it has downloaded. I have a very new laptop and am wondering if there is a program that may read the file that I do not have installed?

What kind of OS do you have? Windows or Mac? It has probably to do with the fact your computer doesn't have the right system to open it..

The only thing it says is: file ??

I have windows, and yes, only thing it says is file

Can you edit the filetype into the name? Some programs to open .zip files is: 7-zip, WinZip.

You can probably unzip it when you installed one of those programs. Otherwise here is a link:

Hi Axel, I have tried everything I can think of including trying to download using different browsers...google chrome, firefox and IE..each time I download the workspaces file it saves on my computer as unknown file type and it is definitely not a zipped file. I tried converting it to a zipped file and then re-extracting but nothing seems to work :( I will keep battling with it and if I find the answer I will let you know.

I guess I should have looked at other answers before commenting. Raelene Collier if you open the "file" download in 7zip then the whole workspace structure is there and you can unzip it.

Thanks Ryan :) That worked perfectly!

Nice that is it fixed..

Thanks Axel for your time :)
