upper and lower

Does JavaScript know which number has a greater value and which one doesn't? If so, how? In the teacher's examples, sometimes the first argument was upper and the second argument was lower, but there were no negative numbers.

The parameter names are associated with the order in which the arguments are given. In the video code examples, the first argument ("lower") always has a smaller value than the second argument ("upper").
