Use of ASC in SQL

In the video it was stated that ASC is default. What would be the purpose of adding the optional keyword of ASC?

In complex queries, explicitly specifying the direction can improve readability.

There's no functional advantage to it, but sometimes when queries are very complex it can make the intention easier to recognize on first glance. It also shows that the direction is intentional and not omitted by mistake.
