Using a SplitView inside a Tabbar with Swift

I have create a tabbar application that I want to use a SplitView inside of. So far I have the split view working, the only issue is that I cannot get it to load the Mater View by default smaller devices.

I would like it to work so that it shows the Master View initial and once an item is selected from the table, then the detail view is shown.
